Orana Park Trip

Dear Parents/Caregivers

As part of our inquiry this term Syndicate 2 are planning a trip to Orana Park.

We plan to visit on Monday the 19th of May, leaving school at 8:50am and returning by 3pm.

During the trip, we will be focusing on how the African animals adapt to living in our climate and also what is being done to help save the Kiwis.

Each child will need to bring their own lunch, drink and a jacket.

If you are able to join us as a parent help, please return the slip below to your classroom teacher by Monday the 12th of May.

Kind Regards

Syndicate Two Teachers

Room 1 & 2 Newsletter Term 2 2014
Kia Ora,

Welcome back to yet another busy but exciting term. We hope you have all had a restful holiday and are ready for a term packed full of learning adventures.

We have a number of exciting things happening this term. We are very lucky to each have student teacher in ours rooms for the first four weeks. We have also had a change of classroom for Room 1 and layout in both rooms. The children were involved in the design of their classroom spaces. Last term they drew plans of how they would like their room to look, we have used these plans and are very excited about now working in these spaces. We would love you to come and have a look around and ask your child to show the new additions to our rooms. There are still some things that we would like to add to our rooms and will be working on these this term.

Inquiry
Our focus for our inquiry is 'Survival'. We are looking at the big question of why adapt? We have a trip to Orana Park planned for week 3 to learn about different animals and their habitats.

Mathematics
Our focus is Number Knowledge and Strategy and Geometry.

PE
We will be concentrating on the cross country for the first two weeks. Then moving onto invasion games. We are also going to be having a sports rotation on a Friday and some coaching with Lincoln High School students.

Technology
Every Friday our syndicate will be doing a technology challenge rotation. Ranging from building bridges to flying objects. We require donations of newspaper and small boxes (e.g. Muesli boxes, cereal boxes) if you have any spare at home.

Class Blog
We will be placing a lot of emphasis on our class blog this term. We are in the process of setting up the one blog for our  year 3's. We will be placing the children's spelling words each week on here and a weekly maths challenge.

We are really looking forward to learning with you and your child this term. Please let us know if you have any questions or queries.

Kind regards
